Najia Sherzad Hoshmand

A Community Leader from Afghanistan, Najia has a vast experience in business and finance from Afghanistan. She is the Founder and President of Afghanistan American Community Center (AACC) a non-profit established to support and uplift the Afghan Community and working as Director Refugee Resettlement with Patchwork Indy and a Community Liaison with Welcome Corps, a federal government refugee resettlement program here in Indiana, where she helps in mobilizing sponsorship groups and provides application support to sponsorship groups. Prior to this job she worked for the City of Indianapolis as Finance Manager for 3 Years. Back in Afghanistan she has worked for different international organizations and government agencies where she helped & supported the Afghan government and the U.S. mission in Afghanistan in re-building her homeland. She has been playing a vital role in advocating and promoting women by contributing to different women empowerment programs run by government and non-government organizations in her Country. She was the first women to be appointed by the Central bank of Afghanistan in an executive role of her country’s largest national bank during the years 2015 – 2017. She speaks 5 languages and much interested in becoming an author and start playing Tennis. She is married and has four children.
Najia has received her bachelor’s in business from Delhi India, MBA from Dunya University in Kabul, and 2nd MBA from Kelley School of Business at IUPUI here in Indianapolis, Indiana. Najia exercises her brilliant leadership now positioning Afghan Community to the next level with her extensive networking with many organizations in Indianapolis area.
Before starting AACC Najia has been a volunteer for Afghan Community here in Indiana and building representative for 280 women and children at camp Atterbury for 3 months when she arrived in the U.S back in 2021 with her family before they were resettled in Indianapolis, Indiana.A Community Leader from Afghanistan, Najia has a vast experience in business and finance from Afghanistan.
